Downsizing my life in a good way

Once upon a time, there lived a great and powerful king. He loved his queen and princess so much. He thought he could give them the world and that, by giving them the world, they would always be happy. What he didn’t realize, the queen and princess didn’t need earthly goods to be happy; all they wanted was for their family to stay together.
This story may have been written with many interpretations for hundreds of years. Someone takes a precious object in hopes to make their love happier; a villain steals riches to fill an empty spot in his life. These are people with the mentality of “If I get richer, have more things, I’ll be happy.” I don’t agree with this statement because I believe the amount of riches someone has doesn’t lead to happiness, just stress.
Anything and everything I possess can be taken away. My car I rely on every day to drive to school, my guitar I am slowly learning to play and the cell phone I use to contact people, all of these items could be taken away from me at any moment. Whether it’s a car accident or losing my home, these are things that could be out of my life in a blink of my eye.
Can I survive without my earthly possessions? I want to answer this question as, “Yes, I could survive.” But, then I think to myself, “Could I really?”
I have to drive quite a distance every day just to attend classes and work. Could I do that without my personal vehicle? It’s not like there is public transportation I could utilize without spending a great deal of money to pay the fare. It is an asinine idea to live without a car at this time in my life; this is not the horse and buggy era.
Living the life of a full-time student is quite a busy one. Without the option to call or text, I would lose a great amount of communication, and it would be harder for me to correspond with people. I could live without a phone and a monthly bill; however, it would make life harder.
I want to live as a minimalist. With less stress for earthly possessions, I could focus more on my career and living life.
Even though I can’t go without a car or a cell phone at this time, I am downsizing in other ways. For example, there were a lot of clothes in my drawers that haven’t been worn for years. I don’t need them, so I donated them to Tantone Industries on the edge of Branson. It’s a relief to put my clothes away and not have to wedge them beside other things in order for everything to fit.
When my phone contract expires, I hope to downsize the payment to a minimum one which involves just texting because, even though I pay for unlimited calling, I don’t use it as often and people respond quicker to texting. Thankfully, I can use the phone at work for business calls, so I’m not losing out on any talk time with people.
I am trying to live a simpler life. The more stuff I have, the harder time I have keeping track of it all, and more stress is added when I can’t find something. When I am living on my own, I don’t want my “stuff” holding me down, I want to be able to pack up and go, easily and quickly. I plan on living all around the world, so paying storage for a bunch of “stuff” just isn’t worth it.
It’s better to live simply and enjoy life than to be bogged down by too much.

Being saved

If I was trapped, helpless and alone, I would want my favortie superhero to come rescue me
